Update On Masters To TNA, Commercials On Impact, More

-- If you noticed on Impact over the last few weeks there has been in increase in commercial breaks. TNA made the call to go from a nine-segment show to an eleven-segment show, which would slightly shorten both the commercial breaks and the segments by 22%. The initial feeling was that the 4:00 breaks were too long so the new breaks will be more along the lines of 3 - 3.5 minutes.

-- Judas Mesias was at the last few Impact tapings filming vignettes. He is currently booked for a singles match against Abyss at the January 6th Final Resolution pay-per-view. If he doesn't show up on television before then, at least the vignettes will air.

--- Sylvan Grenier has also been at the tapings recently but there are no plans for him past being the company's French language announcer.

-- As things stand right now there is no interest in bringing Chris Masters into TNA.

--The Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, South Carolina wouldn't allow TNA to announce that Against All Odds was going to be held at that venue until after the November 25th WWE house show was over.

WWE Disappointed With Y2J? Feud With Orton/JBL, More

-A number of people within WWE are obviously happy about the extension of their TV deal with NBC Universal. There was some fear internally as to what would happen if USA opted to not renew their contract with WWE.

- According to a press release regarding the 15th Anniversary of Raw, WWE will be releasing a special retrospective magazine on December 31, reviewing and celebrating the 15 year history of Raw.

- Chris Jericho's feud with Randy Orton looks to be a short one as it should be over soon. He may move on to a "war of words" feud with JBL, cultimating in a match at WrestleMania. Some people within WWE are already disappointed with Jericho's mic work, in-ring work and mild crowd reaction. Jericho was never expected to get a long period of grace, but the tide has turned against him fairly quickly.

Battle Royal added to Raw, Live Events, More...

- WWEshop.com has released several "Superstar Bop Bags" and "Superstar Cell Phone Charms."

- Their are no WWE Live Events in the States this weekend. The SmackDown/ECW brands will finish up their European tour before heading home this weekend. WWE has the big RAW Anniversary show on Monday and no Live Events next week either. SD and ECW tape on Tuesday and then it's onto Armageddon the following weekend.

- From WWE.com:

Raw’s milestone celebration on Monday promises to be spectacular and what would be more fitting for this extravaganza than to have a very special 15th Anniversary Battle Royal? There is no word on who will compete in the Battle Royal, but it will involve Superstars who have been on Raw in the last 15 years. Given this type of match and Raw’s penchant for unforgettable moments, Monday’s 15th Anniversary Battle Royal could provide a memory that will go down in WWE history.

TNA makes changes to IMPACT, Abyss vs. Judas, More News

- Footage from the new TNA iMPACT video game will be shown at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards this Sunday at 9PM ET on Spike. Karen and Kurt Angle were advertised to be at the show last week, but online reports suggest only Kurt made the appearance.

- Tickets went on sale today for the 2/10 TNA Against All Odds pay-per-view in Greenville, SC at the Bi-Lo Center.

- Abyss is booked to face Judas Mesias in some sort of gimmick match at the TNA Final Resolution pay-per-view on 1/6 in Orlando.

- TNA has decided to go from a nine-segment show to an eleven-segment show. This new format should shorten the commercial breaks, but also shorten the segments themselves.

Hoganvs. Austin at WM24? More

-- WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is said to have reached out to Hulk Hogan to get him to come to Monday’s 15th Anniversary show for RAW. Obviously, the show has been pumped full of talent to try and draw a very high rating. As we have been reporting, there are plans to try and get Hogan to work WrestleMania 24 next year. While chances are not that good it is said that Vince will at least ask Hogan and Steven Austin about a potential match at the big event. Austin is said to be the holdup on the match, as Hogan has already said he would do it in a heartbeat.

-- Former Extreme Expose member Brooke has publicly came out and said she has big plans to do a Playboy shoot and will be working in TNA Wrestling soon. Late last summer, plans were to have her Kelly Kelly, and Layla in Playboy right before WrestleMania. With Brooke being released these plans have obviously been scrapped.

-- Torrie Wilson is being held out of action for the next few weeks to receive physical therapy on her back that has been bothering her.

Big Name removed from RAW Anniversary show!

-- WWE.com has updated the preview for this Monday’s RAW Anniversary show and apparently former Women’s Champion Trish Stratus has been taken off the show. They have replaced her name with Lita.

Here an excerpt from the preview:

-- A host of WWE legends and alumni have been invited to honor the most groundbreaking show in sports-entertainment: Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Eric Bischoff and Lita are just a few on the list of invitees.

WWE trying to get major star at WM24, etc.

Jimmy Hart is currently trying to persuade Hulk Hogan into coming back for WrestleMania this year. The thought is that if NBC's American Gladiators is a hit they can use WrestleMania as a vehicle to cross-promote the show.

Hogan and Vince initially had a fall out early in 2007, largely because of his SummerSlam payoff. He was originally scheduled to be Donald Trump's representative at WrestleMania 23 in the role that went to Bobby Lashley. There were also ideas last year of having Hogan face Big Show or Great Khali at Ford Field with the idea of duplicating the famous Andre the Giant slam from 20 years earlier. Another idea that was pondered was to have Shane McMahon be Hogan's opponent with Khali in the corner (with the idea they couldn't trust a Hogan vs. Khali match) to build to a slam. The final straw for Hogan was when the WWE creative team did an angle where they used Jillian Hall to mock his daughter Brooke.

Hogan and Eric Bischoff had also talked about starting a new wrestling promotion as a nostalgia tour. The idea would be to take Hogan outside of North American to markets he had either rarely or never appeared. The talk of doing a U.S. tour lost a lot of interest after the Memphis show which tested the market for Hogan vs. Paul “Big Show” Wight by only drawing 2,200 fans. This was the only Hogan match this year, and since Nick's accident in August all talk in direction of the promotion has seemed to have been dropped.

With Hogan confirmed for next week's WWE Monday Night RAW 15th Anniversary show it does appear that his relationship with Vince is improving.

Possible Spoilers for HHH/Hardy match, Rumble plans, Batista World Title, etc.

As previously posted, the winner of the Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H match at WWE's Armageddon pay-per-view will get a WWE Title shot at the Royal Rumble in January. As things are planned now, Triple H will likely win the WWE Title from Randy Orton, probably at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. If plans stay the same, then Triple H will be going over Hardy at Armageddon this month and Orton will likely regain the WWE Title over Chris Jericho.

The current plan after that is for Triple H to wrestle Batista at WrestleMania 24 in Orlando. There is major talk within WWE of doing this match at WrestleMania instead of the previously planned Orton vs. HHH match.

It's unknown right now if Batista will be winning the Royal Rumble, but it makes sense because the winner can face any brand's Champion at WM 24. Seeing how Batista is on SmackDown and HHH on RAW right now, Batista would pretty much have to win the Rumble to face HHH at WrestleMania because of the rules of the upcoming Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out, that will only feature wrestlers from the same brand. The other brand's Champion will have six superstars from his brand face off in the Elimination Chamber match with the winner getting the other World Title shot at WrestleMania. It looks like that match will be a SmackDown brand match.

It looks like Batista will lose his title sometime soon as there's no way WWE will have a Title vs. Title unification match at WrestleMania. Edge will likely be the one to take the strap from Batista. It makes sense for The Undertaker to win the Elimination Chamber match and face Edge at WrestleMania in a huge match, with the title and the winning streak on the line.

Comfirmed for next week's RAW!

In a backstage segment on Raw last night, it was announced that the following names will be appearing at next week's 3-hour 15th Anneversary RAW special:

- Hulk Hogan
- Steve Austin
- Eric Bischoff
- Mick Foley
- Trish Stratus

Also confirmed for the show:

- Vince McMahon will announce the "Best RAW Superstar of All-Time".

- The first ever McMahon Family Portrait with Vince, Linda, Shane, Stephanie and Hornswoggle.

Rock appearing on RAW 15th Anneversary?

Take this for what it's worth, but WWE has selected Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the person to feature on graphic ads for next week's huge 3-hour 15th Anneversary RAW special.

While there have been rumors that The Rock would be appearing on the show, no formal announcement regarding his involvement has been made.

Footage of The Rock will be a big part of next week's show, since The Rock was a major player during the highest rated years. The Rock was actually a part of the highest rated segment in the history of Monday Night RAW - the infamous "This Is Your Life" skit with Mick Foley. That segment, which aired on September 27th, 1999 drew an absolutely monsterous 8.4 quarter hour rating.

Here's the ad featuring The Rock that WWE is running:

TNA Turning Point Results

ODB tags in and does a dance of her own. Sky grabs ODB and gives her a wedgie but ODB likes it. She asks the referee to spank her and when he says no she gives him a wedgie as well. ODB hangs Sky in a tree of woe in the corner and stands on her crotch. She then goes for the Dirty Dozen but Sky blocks it and tags in Love. Sky and Love nail Roxxi with a double Russian Leg Sweep for the win.

- Backstage Angle goes in to Cage's locker room to talk to him. Kurt asks Cage and Roode to join the alliance. Kurt says they will dominate TNA with him as the leader. Cage tells Roode to follow his lead and walks off. Roode calls Cage and a hole and Traci says it takes one to know one.

Jackie trys to spit beer in to Young's face but he ducks and Storm gets it instead. Young nails Storm with a roll up and gets the win. Not really much to the match.

- From ringside Mike Tenay & Don West ran down the rest of the card.

- Crystal interviewed LAX backstage. Homicide says it's BS that they haven't been given any title shots as of late. Crystal talked about the member of the latino nation who beat up Christy and said there is no man on women violence allowed in TNA. Hernandez spoke and said no one tells LAX what they can and can't do.

(4) Feast or Fired match featuring Chris Harris, LAX, Jimmy Rave, Lance Hoyt, Petey Williams, Shark Boy, Christopher Daniels, Senshi, Elix Skipper, VKM, Scott Steiner and Sonjay Dutt.

Three of the four cases have title shots in them while one of them has a Your Fired slip in it. The contents of the cases will be revealed this Thursday night on iMPACT!. Petey Williams grabs a case and drops down to the floor so three are left. Kip James grabs a case and tosses it to BG on the floor so two are now left. Senshi grabs a case and takes it down. One case remains. Hernandez Cracker Jacks Dutt over the top rope and he lands on several members of the match. So to recap the cases went to Petey Williams, BG James, Senshi and Scott Steiner.

- Backstage Crystal interviewed Gail Kim. Gail said she takes pride in being the champion but all Kong carrs about is hurting people. She said Kong can break her bones and make her bleed but she's going to have to kill her in order to take her title.

(5) Knockout's Championship: Gail Kim (c) vs Awesome Kong

Kim tried to pose on the apron but Kong sent her crashing into the ringside guard rail. Kong takes Gail and smashes her head into the announce table. Kong charges at Kim but she moves and Kong crashes into one of the ring posts. Kim trys to work on the arm of Kong but she reverses it and drops Gail with a Sleeper Hold Giant Swing. Kong dominates the match. Kim trys to battle back but nothing seems to work. Kim is finally able to knock Kong down with a top rope missle drop kick. This match has a ton of crowd heat. Kim misses a lariet and gets nailed with the spinning back fist. Kong chokes Kim in the corner and won't stop. The ref asks her to stop but she pie faces the referee instead and he calls for the bell. Kong snaps and powerbombs the referee. Velvet Sky comes in and takes a chokeslam. Angelina Love comes in with a chair and Kong punches it into her face. Kong takes the chair and powerbombs Kim down on to it. The crowd chants for ODB but she doesn't come out. This was a very well booked match and post match beat down by Kong.

- Backstage Kurt Angle tells AJ Styles that his meeting with Christian didn't work. AJ says he can't function without Cage and tells Kurt he's done with him. Karen says she has an idea. She says Joe isn't happy with Hall and Nash and that maybe they can turn Joe against them. Kurt says it might work so he will go and talk to him.

- Backstage Crystal interviewed Black Reign. He called Misty his artic fox. Crystal said it's a rat and Reign said the only rat he sees is her. He said the pain and punishment they are going to dish out on them will make the Movie Saw look like a stroll through Candy Land.

(6) Match of 10,000 Tacks. Abyss & Raven vs Black Reign & Relik.

Mike Tenay said that do to an injury Rhino couldn't make the show so Abyss has recruited Raven as his new partner. Footage is shown of Relik kicking Rhino in the face from iMPACT! and Don West said that he suffered a stinger from that move. Abyss lays a board covered in tacks on a table and trys to put Reign through it but he counters it with a low blow. Abyss uses the Darkness Falls weapon on Reign and busts him wide open. Relik takes a hand full of tacks and puts them in Raven's mouth. Black Reign went to the top rope but Raven shoved him off and he went crashing through the board of tacks placed on the table at ringside. - Backstage Kurt Angle told Samoa Joe that Hall and Nash were using him to get over in TNA. He said they would ride him until they had no more use for him and then kick him to the curb. Joe listened and seemed as if he bought into what Kurt was saying.

Booker said Christian is the one guy in TNA that he has faced many times and they know each other well. Booker said Bobby Roode has a great future but tonigh he's gonna slip on a bannana peel. - After the match Roode and Cage get into a brawl. AJ Styles runs in and breaks it up.

Backstage Kevin Nash tells Samoa Joe that Scott Hall has yet to arrive. Joe snaps and asks if Scott Hall was to drunk to start his car and make it here. Nash says it's just them and that he will have Joe's back. Joe says he will be out there for the match but he won't have Nash's back.

(8) Kurt Angle, AJ Styles & Tomko vs Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash

Samoa Joe takes the mic and says he was told to tell the fans that Scott Hall no showed this event here tonight. He said he would love to tell the fans that Hall was coming but he punked out on all the fans tonight. He said there are two types of wrestlers in TNA, those who bust their ass like himself and those who this they are superstars and come out and dog it. He said TNA is guys like Sabin & Shelley who bust their butts and guys like Jay Lethal who are looking to change the face of the buissness not guys who come in just to pad their wallets. Joe tells Hall to kiss his butt. Joe looks down to someone at ringside and asks if they are mad. He said I don't care fire me if you want. Joe them brings out he and Nash's partner in place if Hall and that is "Showtime" Eric Young. Not really much to this match at all. Joe and Young do most of the work. Friday Night Smackdown Results

-The show opened with footage of last week's Vickie Guerrero heel turn. Then the Smackdown opening aired. Michael Cole and JBL introduced the show and hyped the big main event of Edge challenging Batista. Also, Rey Mysterio & Kane vs. MVP & Big Daddy V.

-Edge came out for a show-opening promo. Cole said he wanted to know more about Vickie's motivations. JBL and Cole discussed how she's attracted to power. Edge soaked up boos and "you suck" chants in mid-ring, then talked about having to relinquish the title due to injury. He talked about his resume of accomplishments, then complained about how WWE management and the fans reacted. "No sympathy for me whatsoever," he said. "Not a phone call, not a letter, not an email, not even a measly text message. I'll admit, that hurt. I was actually contemplating retiring." He said he wasn't motivated to go through months of gruelling rehab if he wasn't appreciated. He said then, a couple months ago, Vickie called him. He said he realized as G.M. she had a selfish motivation to check in on him because he was an asset. He said that they formed a bond over time, "and you can't control who you fall in love with." He said it was her idea to have him disguise himself as a cameraman and hide under the ring at Hell in a Cell. He said he made a statement when he bashed in Undertaker with that camera. He said he knew if he could eliminate Undertaker from the picture, he could eliminate Batista. "Four months of frustration poured out and it felt so good," he said. "But not as good as it felt to publicly proclaim my love for Vickie Guerrero." Edge then blamed Taker for attacking a defenseless woman rather than come after him. "What kind of sick, twisted monster are you, Undertaker," Edge said. He added that Vickie felt guilty that, as a result of the attack last week, she couldn't be present when he fulfilled "our dream" later. He said she was lying in bed watching this, probably with tears streaming down her cheeks. He dedicated his match to her, and got luvy-duvy as he said he'd be her "knight in shining armour." The crowd moaned and groaned. JBL said, "What a great man. When you see a stand-up person like that, it makes you proud to be part of this industry. Good performance by Edge. Nice week-two follow up to last week's angle, explaining how it all transpired. There's still questions regarding Vickie's personality. For instance, did she crack recently? Was she always scheming? Why would she seem to disregard and discard all previous indications of having integrity.

-Clips aired of the Finlay-Hornswoggle-Khali angle last week. They went backstage to Finlay and Hornswoggle heading toward the entrance tunnel to face Deuce & Domino next.

[Commercial Break]

1 -- FINLAY & HORNSWOGGLE vs. DEUCE & DOMINO (w/Cherry)-During Finlay & Hornswoggle's ring entrance, Cole said he doesn't understand the Finlay-Vince McMahon relationship including Vince matching Finlay against Khali at Armageddon. Finlay began the match. Hornswoggle ran under the ring and came out the other side and yanked Domino to the mat, then he held up a fake rat and scared Cherry. As D&D cornered Hornswoggle in the ring, the was distracted as Finlay KO'd Domino with the shillelagh. He tagged in Hornswoggle who hit a frog splash for the win. Cole said, "There's something intriguing about this team of Finlay and Hornswoggle." That was just a strange thing to say.

WINNERS: Hornswoggle & Finlay in 3:00.

STAR RATING: 1/2* -- Not much to it. Fine for what it was.

-A video aired with clips of Mark Henry destroying Undertaker, after which Edge cashed in the Money in the Bank to pin a prone Undertaker to win the World Title. JBL called Edge "arguably the greatest of all time." It's quite early to be jumping to that statement.[Commercial Break]-A commercial aired for the three hour special 15h Anniversary Raw.-Jamie Noble interrupted a photo shoot with Michelle McCool. He referred to the photographer as a "picture-taker." That was funnier than it had any right to be, but his delivery is good because he said it as if loaded with pride for knowing such a big, multi-syllable word like that. McCool brushed him off. He bragged about beating Chuck Palumbo last week. McCool called it an upset. Noble took exception and said he wished he beat him quicker. Palumbo walked up behind Noble and asked if he was serious. He said last week was a fluke and everybody knows it. He said he can't wait to get into the ring with him later. Noble said he shouldn't cash his eggs before they hatch. Noble sometimes breaks into doing Dana Carvy doing George H.W. Bush. Noble told Palumbo that lightning is going to strike twice.

2 -- C.M. PUNK vs. KENNY DYKSTRA-Cole said Dykstra could move up the ladder with a win over Punk tonight, and begin to live up to his self-proclamation of being a future Hall of Famer. Cole called Punk "a bona fide superstar." Punk opened with some roundkicks. Dykstra responded with a knee and threw Punk to the floor. Punk kicked Dykstra as soon as he stepped onto the ring apron, then took the match back into the ring. Dykstra then began working over Punk's left arm. Punk sold it well and they kept it interesting with constant attempts to either escape or shift leverage. Punk came back and hit a running knee and a bulldog for a near fall at 4:00. After a brief comeback by Dykstra with a surprise dropkick, Punk hit the Go 2 Sleep for the clean win.

WINNER: Punk in 5:00.

3 -- BIG DADDY V (w/Matt Striker) & MVP vs. KANE & REY MYSTERIO-Cole described Big Daddy V as a 500 pound mastodon. That's Vince McMahon wording. Wasn't Vader always called a mastodon, too? MVP took a breather a minute in, so Rey dove off the apron onto him. They cut to an early break.

[Commercial Break]

Daddy V gave Kane a belly-to-belly after the break for a two count. At 9:00 Rey tagged in and went on a flurry of offense against MVP.

WHAT HAPPENED: 2ND HOUR-Striker tripped Rey coming off the ropes, leading to MVP taking control of the match. BDV tagged in, pressed Rey over his head, spun around, and then threw him into the air. Rey, though, landed on his feet. (Cool spot; one of those moves that nine year olds watching will be talking about with their friends this weekend.) BDV responded with a side slam immediately, then tagged in MVP who scored a two count. At 13:00 Kane got a hot-tag and showed good energy as he beat down the heels. Then Kane and Rey came off separate top turnbuckles at MVP. Rey then hit a 619 and a springboard splash for the win.

WINNERS: Rey & Kane in 14:00.

STAR RATING: **1/4 -- Good match. Better than it had any right to be, actually, but even Kane and BDV positioned themselves to play to their strengths well.

-Another video package aired on the Edge-Vickie alliance.

-Cole and JBL were shown on camera. They threw to clips of Edge vs. Batista June 3 at One Night Stand in a cage.

-Anastacia interviewed Batista about facing Edge later. She asked if he was concerned that he's never defeated Edge in a World Title match affected his preparations. Batista said he's not thinking about it. He said he's thinking about tonight. He said he'd send Edge to the hospital with Vickie where they can recuperate together.

-Cole plugged the THQ Smackdown vs. Raw videogame. They showed Edge spearing Batista, then a clip of Batista giving Edge the Batista Bomb. I still like Pong, Pitfall, and Donkey Kong myself.

4 -- JAMIE NOBLE vs. CHUCK PALUMBO (w/Michelle McCool)-Cole said Noble is the guy in the bar who runs his mouth and you think you can knock him out, but he actually turns out to be tough. Cole then bragged up that he's been in a couple bar room brawls in his day. Cole will never cease trying to be "cooler" than he is. Whether true or not, it just comes across like he's not comfortable with himself. Palumbo dominated most of the match. However, Noble moved out of Palumbo path on a big boot attempt, then he schoolboyed Palumbo and with a yank on his jeans, scored a three count. Noble blew a kiss to McCool afterward.

WINNER: Noble in 4:00.

-Vince McMahon made his first appearance of the show. He chatted with Khali handler backstage. He asked him to do his Hornswoggle imitation again. He did it. Vince seemed amused until he added, "That's your son, with all due respect." He asked him to imitate his uncle next. He didn't want to, but Vince talked him into it. It was a stereotypical accented imitation. Then he imitated Khali at Vince's request. Khali walked into the room at that moment and wasn't amused. More stuff aimed at nine year old boys.

-Raw Rebound aired.

5 -- BATISTA vs. EDGE - World Title match-They went through formal ring introductions to create a "big match" feel. It's just not the same without Jeremy Borash. Ref Charles Robinson held the title belt over his head. The match began with 20 minutes left in the hour. Batista overpowered Edge in the opening two minutes. Edge bailed out to ringside. They cut to a break.

[Commercial Break

Batista continued to control the offense. After fighting at ringside, Batista threw Edge into the ring first. Edge got up and kicked Batista in the chest, then hit a neckbreaker to slow Batista. With both men down at 9:00, they cut to another break.

[Commercial Break]

Six of the first twelve minutes of the match were commercials. They showed Edge scoring a two count after a neckbreaker during the break. Edge had Batista contained on the mat. Edge climbed to the top rope, but he slipped a bit and Batista jumped at him and knocked him completely down to the ring apron. He then went on a flurry of offense. He shook the top rope and then set up a Batista Bomb at 15:00. Edge blocked it and DDT'd Batista. JBL declared, "We got us a new World Champion!" (therefore we knew we did NOT have a new World Champion). Batista kicked out. Edge set up for a spear. When he charged, Batista side-stepped him and then gave him a running powerslam. As he waited for Edge to rise, the lights went out and Taker's bell sounded. Taker appeared in the ring with his hand on Edge's throat. Edge rolled out of the ring quickly. Taker then gave Batista a chokeslam as Edge continued his retreat.

-Out walked Teddy Long! He's back! He didn't get much of a pop. Heartless fans. Edge was right. Long stood over Edge and told him he deserves a rematch for the World Title. Long said he's going to say the same words to Undertaker that Vickie said to Edge last week. He read a sheet of paper and read verbatim what Vickie told Edge, reenacting her contradictory justification for "punishing Edge" by giving Edge a World Title match, so he added Undertaker to the title match at Armageddon to "punish him." The crowd got it and laughed along with Long's cleverness.

WINNER: No contest in 17:00 so Batista retained the World Title.
